Qualifications

Since 1991, A la Cabriole has been recognized by the Quebec Equestrian Federation, which insures that certified establishments meet basic requirements as far as both instructors and installations are concerned.

Instructors

Our instructors have received training recognized by the Canadian and Quebec Equestrian Federations, the Canadian Coaching Association or Sport Canada. Our instructors are evaluated not only for their technical abilities but also for their teaching capacities and safe work ethics.

Our instructors are bilingual.

Evaluation and placing of students

Our students are placed according to their ages and their experience. Progress is evaluated on an individual basis at the end of each ten week session.

Rider level 1 program "Beginner"

  • Learn to work on the ground around the horse:
    • Approach the horse
    • How to move around the horse safely
    • How to brush the horse
    • How to put on equipment
  • Control the horse at:
    • The walk, trot and canter
  • The three positions for trotting
    • Sitting, rising and two-point position
  • Learn the basic school figures
    • Circle, volte, change of direction on the diagonal, the half-volte and the half-volte in reverse.

Rider level 2 program "Intermediate"

  • Begin to jump
  • Learn how to approach the jump
  • Additional school figures
    • Serpentine, figure 8
  • Refine the position
  • Better control of the horse

Rider level 3 program "Advanced"

  • Jump courses of 6 or more obstacles
  • Beginning dressage
    • Leg yields, shoulder in and haunches in
  • Learn how to collect the horse
  • Lengthen stride, etc.

Other programs

Training for riders

Progression is followed in the rider's notebook. Once the notebook is completed, the student may participate in the Quebec Equestrian Federation's Rider level 1, 2 or 3 exam with the goal of receiving the corresponding certificate.

Training for instructors

The elementary preparation includes theory lessons, stable management lessons and one teaching lesson, after which candidates must follow further preparation to be sure that they meet Quebec Equestrian Federation criteria.
  • 10 hours listening to lessons given by a certified coach
  • 5 hours of teaching in the presence of a certified coach
  • Bandages (polos, stable bandages)
  • Lunging a horse
  • Lunging a horse with rider

Sport-Art-Study program

Recognized by the Des-Hautes-Rives school commission since 1997,our school offers technical and practical training to students who want to participate in the sport-art-study program.

Schedule, sessions and cost

The school is open during the entire year:

  • Tuesday to Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

A ten week session is divided into 10 group lessons of 4 to 5 students per
instructor. Our school can accommodate two groups simultaneously. We also offer private and semi-private lessons. At La cabriole, riders must wear an approved hard hat.

EVALUATION : 1 LESSON $ 45.00

INITIATION : 3 LESSONS (2 people can be at same time) $ 135.00

PRIVATE LESSON ( time permitting) $ 65.00

SEMI-PRIVATE LESSON ( time permitting) $ 55.00

10 LESSON SESSION ( COMPULSORY) $ 400.00

EXTRA GROUP RATE ( only if room available) $ 40.00

HALF-SESSION ( only if room available) $ 250.00

COMPETITION : 2 LESSONS PER WEEK + ONE SOLO RIDE: $ 80.00

SOLO RIDE: (must have level 1&2 certificate from the FEQ): $50.00

(To prevail youself of this special you must take all lessons)

Refund Policy:

( for the competition team, if you decide to cancel your lessons, they will be billed to you at the rate of $40.00 per lesson plus a 10% surcharge.

For all other services, you must pay all lessons taken or not at the time the you have sent a written notice of cancellation, plus a penalty of one lesson.

POSTPONED LESSONS:

AN ADMINISTRATIVE FEE OF $ 10.00 WILL BE BILLED FOR ANY MISSED LESSON TAKEN AT A LATER TIME.


SPECIAL : TAKE 2 LESSONS PER WEEK( $800.00 ) AND OBTAIN ONE FREE SOLO RIDE. This special applies only to those who have obtained their Level 1and 2 certificate (cavalier 1& 2)

SPECIAL COMPETITION

If you are a member of the Quebec Equestrian Federation and wish to compete next summer, you must follow 2 lessons per week, starting March 1st 2011. A this time you will be eligible for the special mentioned above.
